• Oxidative Stress is one of the most obvious and important causes of neurodegenerative disease. The first task for formulating Brain Synergy™ was to add to the dosage of antioxidants already present in Foundation Formula and Ultra Cell-Guard to achieve the level that clinical studies indicated may help keep neurons healthy.

• Phospholipids are the major component of neuronal membranes. Unlike phosphatidyl choline (PC) for which two large review articles published by the Cochrane Database found no benefit, phosphatidyl serine (PS) and glycerophosphocholine (GPC) appear quite promising. To see abstracts of studies click here. These two important phospholipids are major components of Brain Synergy™. We’ve not found another formula anywhere with 1,000 mg of GPC.

• Ginkgo Biloba Extract (GBE) offers attractive advantages to a cognitive enhancement formula and is well backed by a good number of randomized trials. We have omitted it from Brain Synergy™ because of the theoretical increased risk of cerebral hemorrhage for those using aspirin concomitantly for platelet inhibition. We feel the majority of candidates for Brain Synergy™ will be using aspirin. Therefore, we do offer GBE as a separate, individual supplement and recommend it only for those patients not using aspirin.
